The recording hiatus is over, for now, as Erik Stanger tosses us a free morsel to re-wet our appetite. This is all instrumental… somewhat reminiscent of Grammal Seizure… slightly less noisy, but more scary. Does that make sense? Anyways, it’s a free gift from Erik. So say thank you.

New On Inner-X-Musick – VEIL OF THORNS “SALON APOCALYPSE”

Experimental, Gothic, Industrial act Veil of Thorns have formed a creative alliance with INNER-X-MUSICK. P. Emerson Williams, Veil of Thorns frontman and multi-instrumentalist has completed production on the first album to be released on Inner-X Musick, Salon Apocalypse, which is the first new release since Cognitive Dissonance in 2007.

Approaching the twenty year mark in their career, Veil of Thorns continue to build on an ever expanding palette with their most varied release to date. From the stripped down, back to the guitar driven psychedelic heaviness of old the last release, the band return to to the organic shifting soundscape melding shades of electronic, classical, hiphop with a darker than ever gothic sensibility.

In typical cryptic fashion I received this piece in the email the other day with permission to post it.  If you want more information about it, the best that you could probably get out of Mark would be one or two words – broken up into five or six emails.  In any event, it’s really a stunning piece.  Drone I suppose… but very layered and deep.  A masterpiece if I do say so myself.

GOTHICK INTERVIEW

NEW ERIK STANGER PROJECT – NORDHAUSEN

This one is going to be special.  On many fronts.  Erik Stanger ov Grammal Seizure has started a side projeckt called “NORDHAUSEN“  Here is Erik’s write up from the NORDHAUSEN Last FM page;

NORDHAUSEN is the side project of Erik Stanger of Grammal Seizure of Baltimore Maryland U.S.A. Nordhausen takes a more old school industrial & at times Power electronics style to it’s sound, Where as Grammal Seizure’s work is a barrage of ear splitting straight wall of power electronics. It’s also a way of tackling different subject matter and sounds for Erik. Vocals are sparse and very “lo-fi megaphone” style in NORDHAUSEN tracks. Occasional samples and field recordings appear from time to time.

The first NORDHAUSEN release will be available on INNER-X-MUSICK recordings on Septebmer 1st!  It will be called “PROJEKT 1“  Erik has been kind enough to give us a glimpse at the recording here with the track “TOTAL POWER”.
